Welcome to the vibrant community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Youth Ministry (SEAS CYM)! Our mission is to foster Catholic fellowship, provide faith formation, and offer support for our young disciples. Join us in building a community where faith, fun, and Christian living intertwine.

  1. Catholic Fellowship:

    • Create an environment of camaraderie among Catholic youth.
    • Establish a close-knit community for mutual support and encouragement.
  2. Faith Formation:

    • Engage in Scripture studies to deepen understanding.
    • Explore Apologetics to strengthen faith and address questions.
    • Foster spiritual growth through various faith-building activities.
  3. Support for Young Believers:

    • Provide a supportive space for young believers to navigate life.
    • Encourage the integration of Christian values into daily living.

SEAS Pastoral Council Youth Ministry Report – March 2024
Unfortunately, we were not able to attend Diocesan Youth Conference in Carthage on February 23 & 24. I was sick and couldn’t go. Another chaperone was also ill. I was unable to find replacement chaperones. After a lot of prayer and effort to try to make it work, Fr. Kiefer and I decided it was best to cancel our group’s attendance. Hopefully we can attend next year.
SEAS Youth Ministry will be hosted the Lenten Fish Fry on Friday, March 8. It was a great success! We had lots of youth helping cook, serve and clean. Many people came out to eat with us, too. It was a great evening of fellowship for everyone.
Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 30 from 11-12:30pm. Youth will lead the younger kids in games, crafts and activities before the hunt. Men’s Club will provide hot dogs. We’ll include chips, cookies and bottled water to make it a meal. Let’s pray for good weather!
Youth are enjoying the YDisciple program of Scripture study we began this month. They have told me it’s their favorite thing we have done in a while. As part of the Scripture study, the high school group does small group discussions. This seems to engage more of them in sharing their faith. Our adult volunteers have said they enjoy this program, as well.
We will be recognizing graduating high school seniors at the Mothers’ Day Breakfast in the Parish Hall on Sunday, May 12. We are asking families to submit a baby picture and senior picture of their graduate, which will be made into a slide show that will run during the breakfast. We will have maps indicating where our seniors will be going after graduation. We will also have cards with graduates’ names on them for parishioners to take in the hopes they will pray for them. We will present graduates with a gift along with resources for them to get connected with campus ministry at the school they will be attending. Fr. Kiefer and I decided to change the way we recognize graduates in hopes that more graduates will participate and, in an effort, to involve more of the parish.
Our attendance continues to increase in all of our groups, but we aren’t reaching as many youth as I’d like. Please help us spread the word about our many Youth Ministry offerings. Feel free to share with me any ideas you may have for increasing the participation of our youth. It’s important to understand that especially in high school, we offer an opportunity for young people to begin to understand and make their faith their own. This can be very important as they move on to the next stages in their lives.
As always, thank you for all you do for our youth!

Respectfully submitted,
Ellen Chindlund Youth Minister
