BAPTISMAL PREPARATION: WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS INTO THE FAITH COMMUNITY
Are you expecting the arrival of a little one? St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish joyfully welcomes you to prepare for the sacrament of Baptism, a significant step in your child's spiritual journey. Here's a guide to the baptismal preparation process:
For First-Time Parents:
1. Parish Registration: If not already registered, complete a Parish Registration Form HERE or contact the parish office at 417-887-6472 or via email at parishinfo@seaschurch.org.
2. Baptism Preparation Class:
- Attend a Baptism Preparation Class on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6:30 PM in the Parish Office Conference Room. The class lasts approximately 45 minutes.
- Register for the class by the Friday before the session. Contact Greg Bolda at 417-343-0502 or gbolda@gmail.com. Please refrain from bringing your baby to the class.
3. Baptism Registration:
- After completing the Baptism Class, fill out a Baptism Registration Form HERE.
- Call the parish office at 417-887-6472 (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM—4:30 PM) to schedule your baby’s baptism.
For Parents Who Have Previously Taken the Class:
1. Parish Registration: If not already registered, complete a Parish Registration Form HERE or contact the parish office.
2. Baptism Registration:
- Fill out a Baptism Registration Form HERE or contact the parish office.
3. Scheduling Baptism:
- Contact the Parish Office at 417-887-6472 to schedule your baby’s baptism.
Choosing Godparents:
Godparents play a crucial role in the religious formation of your child. According to Canon Law:
- One Godparent must be a confirmed practicing Catholic, minimum 16 years of age.
- A fully initiated Catholic who has received Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion.
- A practicing Catholic who regularly attends Mass, goes to Reconciliation, and believes in the truths of the Catholic faith.
- The child's parents cannot be the Godparents.
