CHOOSING GODPARENTS

The role of the Godparents is to be model Catholics in the life of your child. The Godparents will assist in the religious formation of your child as a good Catholic.
Here are a few tips to help guide you when it comes to choosing your child's Godparents.
According to Canon Law:

» One Godparent is required to be a confirmed practicing Catholic.

» Minimum 16 years of age.

» A fully initiated Catholic (having received Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion.)

» A practicing Catholic (regularly attends Mass, regularly goes to Reconciliation, and believes the truths of the Catholic faith.)

» The Godparents cannot be the child's own parents.
